As you drop your child off at school, remember that:
* Children adjust to school in different ways– it’s ok if your child cries and is clingy; it’s also ok if your child doesn’t cry (& it’s ok if you cry after you leave the class).
* Your child can have something small that can help comfort him/her and can be kept in a pocket, cubby, or backpack.
* Saying goodbye to your child is important (don’t sneak out)-show your child you support him/her going to such a wonderful class by smiling.
Once you say goodbye, leave! Staying longer only makes it harder for everyone– tell your child, “See you later,” make a funny face or blow a kiss at the door, and go (& don’t come back until pick-up time).
Happy Back to School!
