All About Me

My career with the Office of Child Development began in 1988, as a substitute teacher. I am proud to be the Certificated Teacher of the Creator classroom at the Center for Early Education site.  I obtained my B.A.degree in Human Development with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College. In 2008/09 I was honored  to be the first preschool teacher in the district to ever be awarded as Certificated Teacher of the Year. Twice I have been awarded by (LAUPS) Los Angeles Universal Preschools as Teacher of the Year for Los Angeles second district, in 2008 and 2015.

I became an early education teacher because…I want to both influence and instill in children a “I can do anything” attitude as they discover the world around them.

One thing about teaching that surprised me…Is that I learn as much if not more from the children, as they learn from me.

Three words that describe my teaching style are…fun, always evolving and emergent

My favorite area of the classroom is…The art area because here the children are free to explore and produce original works of art, as they discover how colors blend and how to manipulate the tools and materials. For them it is the process of the art rather than the end product.

My favorite children’s book is… Owl Babies by Martin Waddell
I’m really proud of…The expressive language skills that the children develop. I love to see/hear their vocabulary increase and the confidence that they have in themselves as they express their feelings and share information.

I’m still teaching because…I love it! I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. It is so rewarding to impact the lives of children and families. I know I am making a difference in their lives because so many family stay in touch years after they have left my classroom.

When I am not working I like to… Watch Food network and cook, relax and go to day spas and take long walks.
