FORMER ROOM PARENTS

Jasmine and Itzel----“Hello, my name is Jasmine Jimenez. I am a room parent and my daughter is in Ms. Lupe’s class. This is my daughter’s second year being in Ms. Lupe’s class. I am thankful to Ms. Lupe because she has taken the time to make sure my daughter understands the lessons that she has planned out for the Innovators. My daughter enjoys being in Ms. Lupe’s class and is always excited for school.”

Monica and Whitney---- This is our fourth year (our older daughter was an innovator too!) as an Innovators Family and we couldn’t be happier! We have seen our girls grow in confidence, independence, and prepared for the kindergarten transition. I’ve always felt comfortable discussing my daughter’s progress and feel like we become a collaborative team in my child’s development. My daughter always come home wanting to share all the new information she has learned about hibernation, growing plants, insects, and other cool facts. We will be sad to leave as this will be our last year but we know we will be…Innovators FOREVER!

Hi! My name is Gina, and both my boys (now 8 & 4 yrs old) were lucky enough to have Ms. Lupe as their teacher through their preschool years.  I could go on and on about how great the program is and how amazing the teachers are!  Ms. Lupe and Ms. Maria created such a positive, loving environment, allowing the kids to thrive and grow in their confidence, independence and learning.  As sad as we are to be graduating out of her class, we are so grateful for our time as Innovators and know that our kids are set up to succeed as they move onto TK/K.   Thank you, Ms. Lupe & Ms. Maria!

Both my kids were in Ms. Lupe's class at OCD, and we feel so fortunate that they were! You can clearly tell Ms. Lupe is passionate about what she does and it's reflected in the growth I saw in both my kids. Most importantly, she fostered their spirit of curiosity in the world around them and persistence when facing challenges. She also focuses on social-emotional development; our kids were able to better communicate their needs with us and learned to play cooperatively as they moved from solo parallel play at younger ages to cooperative play by the time they graduated out. They learned a lot of fun things - she focuses on a theme for every month and ties her lessons to California Preschool Learning foundations which she communicates out to the parents monthly. We loved our experience with Ms. Lupe and being part of the Innovator family! We'll miss having you part of our kids' day-to-day life.

My name is Bettina, and I am a co-room parent for Lupe and Maria's class, 2020-21 (pandemic edition). My son's name is Anso, and he's in his 2nd year as an Innovator. We've been in Lupe's class since summer 2019, and it's emotional for us just thinking about this being our last year because it has been such an amazing experience. Even masked up and socially distanced, Lupe and Maria have worked hard to make our kids feel loved and supported, and thus have provided a much needed dose of normalcy. We are eternally grateful, and are hoping our second child is lucky enough to be in their class in the future.

It's a little different being a room parent during these germy times, definitely a lot less physical involvement, but it's been great regardless! My fellow room parent Vickie and I are basically Lupe and Maria's cheerleaders/extended voice, reminding parents about share day particulars and rallying up participation for fundraisers, as well as attending the monthly remote PAC and sharing important news. Just as we try to be supportive of the class, Lupe is also very supportive of us - communicating clearly about how we can help her, which we so appreciate. Teamwork! Thanks for taking such fantastic care of our Innovators, Lupe and Maria!

Austin has been at OCD since he was 3 years old and graduating this year. He will be moving on to El Marino in the fall. We love OCD and room8.

Hi there! Arlana and LaCoya here, and we are thrilled to be the 2019-2020 Innovator Room Parents. Our children, Anika and Langston, are second-year Innovators and we cannot speak enough about how much growth and development we’ve seen in them since they began their Innovator journey.

As leaders of the Innovators, we are both so impressed with Ms. Lupe and Ms. Nancy and how loving and patient they are with our children. We are simultaneously impressed with just how much they manage to teach our busy tykes, both academically and about being kind and considerate to others. Because of Ms. Lupe and Ms. Nancy, our kiddos remind us that it’s okay to make mistakes and that you’re supposed to help others when they need it. They also remind us that 4+4 equals 8, and that gigantic and enormous mean the same thing.

If there are any ways we can support Ms. Lupe and Ms. Nancy and their efforts in the classroom, we are all for it! Even at the preschool level, we believe our community is an important one.

We’re looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year, and the opportunity to witness our babies grow and mature into their brilliant selves.

xo,

Arlana and LaCoya

Hello Everyone,

My name is Viviana Guzman and my son is Joaquin and I just wanted to say how beyond happy we are to be in the OCD family. From the first moment I stepped foot in the OCD office to begin this journey with Joaquin, the staff was extremely helpful and understanding which helped me due to the fact I was nervous and scared. Then I met Ms. Lupe and Ms. Nancy and I can honestly say they are the dream team of preschool. From day, one Ms. Lupe was so patient and understanding in our situation due to the fact this was going to be Joaquin's very first school experience and I can honestly say from my heart that Ms. Lupe and Ms. Nancy made this transition for him such a positive one. It has been amazing to see the transformation in my son, how he has developed emotionally, physically and socially since he started in September 2018. I am forever grateful for all they do for our kiddos. They truly are amazing teachers. That being said, it has been my pleasure to help in the little way I can to contribute to all the wonderful things Ms. Lupe is doing with our Innovators and I will continue to do so. GO INNOVATORS!!!

I am excited to volunteer in my 2nd year as a room parent. My son is Hezekiah, this will be his 2nd year at CCUSD-OCD. Hezekiah's first year of preschool in Rm 8 as an Innovator has been a pleasure because I got to meet the most amazing teacher, Ms. Lupe, the parents and let’s not forget the precious little ones. From the start, Hezekiah loved going to school every day. He has grown so much socially, emotionally and educationally.

My experience as being the room parent has been a joy. I encourage you to get involved. At first, when Ms. Lupe asked me to be a room parent, I was hesitant because I'm usually a shy person, but I took the challenge. Throughout the year it was amazing because I got to participate in the fundraiser activity and meeting other people. I gained a great deal of being more social.

I want to give Ms. Lupe kudos because she has so much patience and she knows exactly how to teach and be in the moment with the kids. She is an awesome teacher. She has taught me a thing or two about dealing with my own kid. Let's work together with Ms. Lupe and make our children's preschool experience unforgettable.

Hi Parents!

I am excited for Alexander to start his first year of pre-school in room 8.  I couldn’t agree more with Lupe about the importance for us to slow down, listen more, and simply enjoy our little angels.  I remind myself to slow down every day since I took on the challenge to finish my MBA.  I began to volunteer for the office of child development three years ago when my oldest son Leo started pre-school in 2014.  It has brought me much joy and satisfaction to help teachers help our children during their transition to independence.  In 2015 I saw an opportunity to make a difference in the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and accepted the position as Treasurer of the board.  So I invite you to get involved. Let’s ask questions--bounce back ideas on what we can do to make our children’s pre-school experience that much better and magical :)

Thank you,

~Susy
