“I believe in children’s learning. When we provide children with rich, hands-on play experiences, we are opening the doors to their learning.” Lupe Aguila
I started my career in Early Childhood Education in 1999 when I began working for Culver City Unified School District/Office of Child Development. I am a Certificated Teacher and hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood and Adolescent Development with a minor in Family Studies and Services from California State University at Northridge. I also possess a Site Supervisor Child Development Permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additionally, I hold a Skill Certificate--Director-Private Preschool, and a Skill Certificate- Health Nutrition, Safety and Food Sanitation of Early Childhood Programs . I am also certified in Pediatrics and Adult First Aid and CPR. It was an honor for me to be named Classified Employee of the Year 2011 by the Culver City Education Foundation and CCUSD. In my free time I enjoy gardening, walking, reading and spending time with my family.
I became an early education teacher because…I love children. I enjoy nurturing their natural curiosity. Seeing how much a child has progressed throughout his/her time in preschool is priceless, and knowing that I took part in this process gives me a sense of achievement. At the end of each day I feel good about myself because I know I had made the difference in a day of a child’s life.
The best part of the classroom day is…seeing those little faces when they have mastered a new task; their sense of accomplishment is immense and I love to be part of it.
I invite the children’s families to… Get involved in your child’s life and education. In this busy world where we have to carry on our shoulders many tasks, I invite you to take a moment to walk slowly like those little legs, to speak less and listen more and to just enjoy each other!
