CERTIFICATED TEACHER: Guadalupe Aguila

“I believe in children’s learning. When we provide children with rich, hands-on play experiences, we are opening the doors to their learning.” Lupe Aguila

I started my career in Early Childhood Education in 1999 when I began working for Culver City Unified School District/Office of Child Development. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University at Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Adolescent Development, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development and a Minor in Family Studies and Services. I also hold a Site Supervisor Permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additionally, I hold a Skill Certificate--Director-Private Preschool, and a Skill Certificate- Health Nutrition, Safety and Food Sanitation of Early Childhood Programs. I am certified in Pediatrics and Adult First Aid and CPR. It was named Classified Employee of the Year in 2011 by the Culver City Education Foundation and CCUSD. I have also been nominated three times for the Los Angeles County Preschool Teacher of the Year award. In my free time, I enjoy going to the movies, gardening, walking, reading and spending time with my family.

I became an early education teacher because…I love children. I enjoy nurturing their natural curiosity. Watching a child progress throughout his/her time in preschool is priceless, and helping each child grow more capable and confident is my greatest joy. There are times when I may be tired (or even exhausted), but I always feel good knowing that I have tried to make a difference for each and every child, each and every school day.

The best part of the classroom day is… watching those little faces when they have mastered a new task; their sense of accomplishment is immense and I love to be part of it.

I invite the children’s families to… Get as involved in your child’s life and education as possible. In this busy world with so much going on, I invite you to take advantage of the times where you can walk slowly like those little legs, speak less, listen more, and just enjoy each other! Spending quality time with your child is priceless. Start building some memories together.
